leather sofa = scratched badly

This has just happened to my daughters week old sofa and she bought a repair kit and a re-dye kit and the scratches and a small tear don't look noticable now.
It cost £39 but will last the life of her sofa as there is plenty stuff in the kit so I guess it's worth it even if it's not moneysaving.
Pets and sofas just don't go together do they,sadly.0 -
Hi folks
Got a chocolate brown leather settee and 2 cats, not a good combination! Lots of fine, small, surface scratches and some really deep, get your claws stuck in scratches! I'm guessing there's not much I can do about the deep scratches, but I wonder if I can put something on the smaller ones? I thought about something similar to a brown shoe polish?? Has anyone got any suggestions (apart from getting rid of the cats lol)?

Shoe polish should do it, but you must ensure that it's properly buffed so you don't get polish marks on your clothing.0

Shoe polish should not be used on furniture niot only because it will come off on clothing but because it also contains silicone which will damage the leather.
There are repair products that can be used specifically for cat scratches which will recolour the leather without damaging it.
Hope this helps

Depending how bad scratches are, Amazon does a range of repair kits HERE
Never tried repairing leather, so I can't comment on results."We could say the government spends like drunken sailors, but that would be unfair to drunken sailors, because the sailors are spending their own money."

You can get leather/shoe dye at at lot of shoe repair places like Timpsons. It will colour in the scratches and you can then blend them in with polish. If you give it a really brisk going over with a cloth it won't come off on anyone's clothes.
Brown or black are easy to get hold of and useful for all sorts of things like leather sofas (covered up a multitude of accidents on mine even a nail polish incident), perking up worn, but favourite, shoes and boots, and renovating those worn patches you get near the pockets/buttons/collars on leather coats. In fact, I wouldn't be without black and brown leather dye, and also suede/nubuck dye, in the cupboard.0
