Can DLA application run out?

Options
I applied for DLA 12 April and they sent for to my GP on 9 MAy for her to fill in. GP receptionist confirmed on 11 MAy they had recioeed it and I made appointment to see GP on 17 May to give her updated info as I had been in hospital since January and GP had not see me. Well I assummed that GP would fill it in within a day or two as I had seen her. WRONG. After about 3 weeks phoned GP's and was told it was still not filled in. Eventauly on 12 June they told me Doctor was doing in at the time I phoned and it would be posted that day.

Well today they told me Doctor has never seen the form , even though they previously told me they had recieved it on 11 May.

I am so mad, I have seen my doctor 4 times since they got this form and never asked about it assumming it had been done. I phoned DLA and they Faxes a copy of the form and have just spoken to GP's receptionist who has told me it is on doctors desk for her coming into evening surgery and it will be done today and posted asap. I am worried now that DLA will say taht application has taken 2 long and I will have to apply again. I got CAB in hospital to fill this form in for me before and to be honest I do not know if I can take the pressure if I had to do it all again.

does anyone know if a DLA application can run out?

If your GP fails to supply the required evidence then they will probably organise a visit from one of their Medical Services doctors.
It's often a good idea to complete one of the Health Professionals checklist pages from the back of the guide here
Free guides to claiming disability living allowance, attendance ...
or Introduction to disability living allowance
as this then means all the details you have made in your claim form regarding your need for care throughout the day/night and your mobility problems is set out and your GP doesn't have to make a guess or think about your particular needs. It's often the case that discussions with your GP about your medical condition don't provide evidence relevant to a DLA claim and ensuring your GP has that evidence in a simple straightforward form will make life easier for them.
Another strategy is to ask if you could be present while the form is completed. That way you will be able to explain the reasons for your care needs if your GP isn't aware of the extent of your daily problems. It also means you see that the form actually is completed in a timely manner.
