Can anyone help re this query please.
Car One : Me registered Keeper and Insurance policy holder. Husband Main driver.
Car Two: Husband registered Keeper and Insurance policy holder. Me main driver.
We both have 9+ years NCB.
Just renewing insurance Car One and insurers say they will have to transfer my NCB, earned on this car, to husband as he is main driver. This means he will then have two lots of NCB and I will have none.

If you want to keep your NCD in your own name, then shop around for a new company - most insurers will let the policyholder have a named driver as the main driver without insisting they have the NCD (though don't bother with RAC, as they are another that operate this way).0

So am I. Why not either transfer the vehicles, or change the insurance policies? It'd be a lot less confusing for everyone, and it'd make finding policies a lot easier to find.ThelmaLouise wrote: »Can anyone help re this query please.

Not fronting at all!
(The correct main drivers have been declared.)0 -
Define main driver?
The missus takes the small car to the station every day about a 4 mile round trip so say 10 mins or so 5 days a week.
I then drive it 25 miles at weekend.
Who is the main driver?
My point being that insurers really should start looking at more user friendly multi car / family policies. Although are some not already doing that?
When in South Africa the car, house and contents were all on the one policy which was cheaper and saved a hell of a lot of hassle.0 -

the misses is defined as the main driver, she uses the car more frequently, 5 days out of 7 she also has the capacity to do more miles as she is the car more often
Insurance is just a scam to be honest and the NCB system is not only confusing its just plain stupid, like the fact your NCB can only be used on one car, if i own two cars my NCB should be useable on both, for me as the driver, i can only drive one at anytime but no the insurers insist its only available on one car at a timeEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
AFAIK it's not fronting when a husband and wife share a car.
NCD can also be transferred between the two.
An example of fronting is when 17 year old son gets his Saxo insured in Mummy's name

I tried to get a quote like that for myself and my OH with 2 cars (an L200 and a Jimny) I could get individual policies for around £700 in total about 2 years ago. Admiral wanted £1300, and there was less in the way of cover (driving other vehicles, legal cover etc). So, yes there are some companies doing them, but they ain't always the best choice. My point being that insurers really should start looking at more user friendly multi car / family policies. Can you claim NOCD even when you have protected claims. So person hit my parked car a while ago and had to claim on insurance even though I wasn't at fault. I liked to shop around for deals and previously had 9 years no claims0
