  • If your book gets published how much do M&B pay you for it? I once knew someone who wrote similar type of books for another publisher, and they didn't make that much money at all from what I can remember. Maybe thery pay more now?:)

I think its a long term form of revenue if you are lucky enough to be good enough rather than a quick fix, from what I understand the key is to build up a following over time.

    Hi glowgirl

I don't think 2 weeks is bad, but do email again to put your mind at rest.

I've been busy at home (from being alone to having a houseful) so haven't given writing much thought. And with this new system on the computer I don't think I'd dare do anything until I can understand it better.

I can't get used to Windows XP at all. Most of the buttons and functions I had before have disappeared, the fonts are still too small, and because I lost the ability to log in to all my accounts, I had to clear cookies etc and I checked a function which I didn't really understand and now every time I write a reply like this one, I have to press on the word 'allow' that appears at the top of the browser before it gets published. Often I forget and presume it's gone through, go to another page and lose it

That free word processor you mentioned, is the work you do on there completely private or can anyone else read it?

Angela, I've emailed them, I'm having a sorting stuff out day;)

Open Office that dd uses is totally private exactly as word is, lots of companies use it, its not saved to a cloud or anything like that, she has essays etc on there and never had a problem, I used to use it myself for WP and spreadsheets until I got a new laptop which had everything pre-installed:)

Glowgirl, Thanks for letting me know.
  • Hi

I think as someone else said, it's definitely a long haul option rather than a quick sprint. Best of luck, though, if you can keep to the guidelines it's certainly a good market to tap into.

I'm about two thirds through my novel at the moment, but what with two murders and a kidnapping, I don't think it's exactly M&B's style :D

(Good to see a fellow Highlander, by the way - I'm in sunny Inversneckie!)

In June 2011 Prima mag, there is a short article about erotic writing.

I made a note of the details and can write them here if anyone wants, there was a name of the author, and how much she gets paid.

How are you all getting along?

Morning Angela:) that would be great, theres not much info out there that isn't already on this thread, I'm still waiting for any kind of response from M&B, I'm seriously thinking of sending my work elsewhere as well, Patience is not a virtue I possess:o and I haven't written a single word in about two or three weeks:( - how are you? are you sorted comp wise now?

    Hi Glowgirl

    Pen name -Kaye Jaybee

sold something to https://www.oystersandchocolates.com, selling books on Xcite

    8 pounds per story
    50 pounds per 3,000 words

I don't remember seeing which publications paid those fees, I think it was just a general idea of what you might expect with those kinds of stories -it was a short article and it wasn't my mag.

As for my computer, I can't get used to it at all and haven't attempted to write anything although I feel there is something on the horizon not sure what.

I bought an unusual book in the charity shop. Operation Jericho. It looks like a journal and inside are maps, photos and all sorts of information as well as the story set in two different time periods. I've noticed recently that I read a lot of novels relating to time, history and a mystery to solve..

What about you glowgirl, any themes you are particularly drawn to?

Did you email about your book a second time? Is the reason you aren't writing because you're disappointed not getting a reply?

Thanks Angela, I did email the second time and still nothing, I haven't been writing because dd finished school about a month ago and we've been hanging around together doing girly things and now we have a new kitten that dd bought me for my birthday so more distraction:o, all excuses I know but to be truthful I'm not going to waste time if no one wants to publish my work as know I have other ideas and I cant live on hope alone but I really did give it my best shot so everything is crossed:) I'm not drawn to any themes Angela but I do like raunch;)

I hope you get back to writing soon, I noticed that you said you bought a book recently, I was wondering do you (or any other posters on here) read a lot? I don't read that much anymore, mainly because I just don't have the time and I'm so tired by the time I go to bed, if you do, what do you read? do you feel that it helps with your writing? How do you fit in reading?

Good luck to all, inspiring stories are most welcome:D
