I think it was isofa who replied to a thread that I was on, him and someone else confirmed that VM cable lease is 14 days.
Which is why I have had the same IP address for at least 2yrs.

    Found it posts #28+35

the DHCP lease may be 14 days, but its quite possible that the dhcp server is setup just to give you back the same IP address. rather than assign you one from a pool (my home network does somthing similar, assigns on mac address)

BUT as VM has swallowed up various cable companies over the years it may depend on whos hardware you were originally on.

As for me I ve had the same IP for the last 7 years from NTL to VM.

    so really good as static.

Conversely at work we have three cable lines from Telewest (=Virgin Media) Business, with supposedly 'static' IP addresses (by which they apparently mean somewhat more likely to stay the same than any other sort). On one line they've changed the UBR to which one line is connected three times, and on another once, each leading to a new 'static' IP address. Not much fun when you find out about it accidentally, because your Exchange server stops sending and receiving emails! And you can't even have 'static' IP addresses for 20 Mbps or above, just 10 Mbps. And it cost £more per month...
