This is probably a very dumb question, but does anyone know:
a) If Kaspersky 2009 has a function that warns about dodgy sites on the web before it lets you go to them
and
b) If it does, do you have to switch it on? Where would it show on the actual web page.
Would appreciate any feedback on this.
Thanks.

yes it does and it is switched on by default. It will throw up a warning before the page loads.
BTW as you have Kaspersky 2009 you can update to 2010 for free using the same registration code....0 -

Well I have had some scares with sites telling me I have a load of viruses and that I must download something etc etc but I haven't had a warning from Kaspersky beforehand.
Is it a warning that you would notice??? I know when I was with Macafee it used to show up a great big red warning box, which you couldn't miss.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

yes:
there is a similar one, but its only about 1/3 of the size when it allows stuff to execute (when the file is first run and classified into a group like untrusted for example)0 -
I have never had a message like that come up since I installed the Kaspersky, so wonder if it is working on my pc:eek:
Also, does anyone know about the InPrivate Filtering symbol which is always at the bottom of the screen when I am online. Is this something to do with Microsoft, Kaspersky or some other thing? Is it something that should be used?
Many thanks.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

Thanks for that, but does it actually warn about websites rather than programs?Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

Is that basically what the InPrivate Filtering thing is?Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -

The warning is as gaming_guy says.
The sites saying you have viruses are a con to try and get you to buy their software at best and at worse get you to download potentialy dangerous software, ignore them.
To upgrade to 2010 you need to download the 30 day trial version and then follow the instructions to enter your current registration code, if you no longer have this you can retrieve it if you registered 2009 and set up a login on the Kaspersky site.
I upgraded to W7 and had to remove 2009 and then download 2010 as above, I dont know if you can download 2010 over 2009 but it should work ok.0
