Barclaycard taking money from non-existent agreements - has this happened to others?

If the PPI was set up illegly then Barclaycard 's complaints department should sort it out but you have not explained why it has taken years for you to notice it.
I am afraid that not looking at statements simply will not wash as I'm sure that a clever lawyer for Barclays would use that against you if it went to court.0 -
You are right of course, Barclaycard's complaints department should sort it out. However they have done exactly the opposite and for over a year have either a) ignored me, or b) told me I had signed up to take out PPI - case closed!
This is why I had to get hold of my agreement from a third party. Otherwise it would simply have been my word against their's, and they held the evidence.
I do not believe that my not checking my statements excuses them taking several thousand pounds for my account for a bogus insurance policy and them trying to cover up this act. I think it would take an extremely clever lawyer to argue that is not fraud.0 -
But if you paid the bills ...........is there not a time that you ''accepted'' the insurance?
Which fool pays something for years and then decides its not for them?0 -

No.
They have been taking the money illegally it's as simple as that.
If someone shoplifts repeatedly for a number of years does that mean the shop allows them to merely because they haven't caught them?
Yes, ideally you should read every single transaction on every single statement but in the real world that doesn't happen all the time. It's usually not a large amount which is taken each month (it just builds up) so it would be easy not to notice unless you were looking for it.
Personally I think that this is something that BC have deliberately done.Wedding 5th September 20150
