North West Region Meter Switch

Hi,

I have received a latter from Scottish Power informing me that meter has reached 'the end of it's officially permitted life and must be replaced'. My supplier is EON.

Has anyone else had this letter and what sort of meter do you get installed?

I would very much favour a smart-meter..

All very standard - nothing lasts forever.

You'll get what they give you. Perhaps a direct replacement or maybe a newer digital version depending on whats on the van at the time.
Doubt it'll be a smart meter.

You will get a similar meter to the one you have now.
It might be physically a tad smaller, and probably be a Siemens one, and it wont be a Smart meter.

    No way? Really?! :money:

Thanks for the answers. I just thought that since they have to put in smart meters eventually they might be incrementally rolling them out now. Would make some sense.

But how much would you be prepared to pay for a Smart meter, like most Government initiatives guess who will bear the cost?

I'm on economy 7 and mine was changed last year, went from a black digital to a white digital meter with different economy 7 times.
    Was 12:30 - 07:30 off peak, now 03:00 - 07:00 and 13:30 - 16:30.
Takes less than 30mins to change.

When they do this they should attach a card to the meter with the final reading and serial number from your old meter and the initial reading from your new meter. When you get your first bill after the exchange, check it is reflected correctly on the bill just in case in the information has not got from the meter worker to the meter operator to your supplier.
