Landlord putting up TO LET sign before we're gone

I have given my notice to quit a commercial property i have been letting. The landlord has written back confirming dates and stating that he has requested a To Let sign be put on the building now.

Surely he has to wait til I have vacated the property or ask my permission? Does anyone know what the legalities are in this situation?

Do you have a problem with getting the ball rolling just now?

He is probs just trying his best to minimise the time the shop will sit empty once you pack your bags.

Is there anything in your agreement about it?

Have you discussed the matter with him? What did he say?
When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.

It will be in the tenancy agreement. Most agreements have a clause allowing advertising and viewings at reasonable hours up to a month before tenancy ends.

I wouldn't mind as it's a commercial property may be a shop then people will drop by and have a chat about where you are moving to possibly getting a bit more business. If it's an office then say that viewings at lunch time only or whatever is convenient for you.

What does your lease say? A commercial letting will almost certainly allow the LL to put up a to let board in the six months before you leave - you need to check your lease. At best you may be able to ensure that none of your signage is obscured but that depends on how your lawyer negotiated the terms of your lease.
