Sky+ copying to laptop

I'm trying to find out if it's easy to copy from a Sky+ planner to a laptop. My little boy is obsessed with a programme i've got on the planner and i want to keep a hard disc copy (for home use!!) in case the box goes down. I'm not too clever with techie stuff so any simple ways would be most appreciated. I believe i've got the right cable to connect laptop to tv and the audio leads but i'm not sure what to do in connecting to Sky+ box to use the copy function.

What program/channel is it out of interest? There are a few ways of doing it, but you will need to purchase some hardware to do it.

Although if I wanted to copy something from a sky box, I'd probably say sod it and just download from a certain website. Save the hassle and cost when the end result is the same.

You'd be better off copying to a DVD recorder or even a VHS machine.
To use your laptop you would need one of these or similar.

It is probably easier to download from torrent sites, however if you don't mind unscrewing your Sky Box you can plug the hard drive into the computer and use something like this: http://www.skycopyplus.co.uk/extract.php
