Asda Credit Card Joke

I received my new asda credit card to replace my expired one and activated it. The problem is it doesn't work in asda stores or in asda petrol stations.
Why - because the chip is slightly smaller and cannot be read by asda chip and pin readers.
The card issuer solution ask the till operator to swipe the card!! This week two till operators have refused and acted as though I am a criminal.
The card also gives a discount on petrol yet my asda store has a self serve only petrol station so the card doesn't work.
It is rediculous that Asda brand a card that doesn't work in their own stores and the card provider just calls it a known issue with no timescale for a fix.

Not heard of this, many issuers are supporting this new smaller chip now and I believe the same PED's used in ASDA are used in many other merchant outlets

Hi this has happend twice to us now. So we know how you feel.
We phoned the card peeps up, all they say is Asda's been told. Asda, they say they have not been told. The card supplier, (Asda's) said ask them to punch your numbers in/swipe, Asda say they are not allowed to. So now we go to Tesco, Asda now looses £7k off it's turnover from us.
And the really sad thing is, they don't care a !!!!!.0 -
Thats terrible. only thing you can do is vote with your feet and close the account if you feel strongly enough. If you do go down that route make sure you tell them why you are cancelling.0

If i was into conspiracy Fairys i might start to wonder if this is intentional because the Asda Credit Card is also a REWARD card & obviously if you can't use it in Asda then you can't collect reward points instore0

That thought has gone through my mind. We've lost 2 weeks worth of reward points.0 -
Could you not use it on the asda website and get shopping delivered. Should still earn points and I believe delivery is free on orders over £99 with an Asda CC0
