New Printer

Our printer, an HP 843c, has finally given up the ghost and I'm looking for advice on something new.
My wife is a teacher and uses the printer most days, colour and b&w, but not in large numbers. So we're looking for something cheap (naturally), reliable and with reasonably priced cartridges.
Any suggestions?

I'd recommend Epson's. I've got a R220 which you can buy for around £60. The reason I'd recommend Epson's is that there are lots of people out there who sell compatible cartridges whereas if you got something like a Lexmark, you'd find it slightly harder to buy cartridges.
Of course you can use the Internet but I find sometimes its nice to be able to pop to say Tesco's and pay to have it same day.
I don't know how companies can justify their prices for ink since I can buy a new printer complete with cartridges cheaper than buying a new set of cartridges! I've just ordered new set of 5 colour cartridges thru work for £75 but the printer is only £65!!!!
If it were my own printer tho, I'd stick with compatibles. I've found the ones at 7dayshop.com to be the most reliable.0 -
ive got an hp deskjet 3940.. great printer, and only costs 40 quid from dixons HOWEVER if your wife is printing a lot, HP cartridges are expensive, and im not too sure about compatables. Worth considering, but you are probably better off with an epson0

Warning about Epsom copied ink, if you get dodgy ink it will block your print head and it will cost you about £50 to get epsom to replace it! so make sure you get good compatible ink which they will take back if they are naff.
epsom and brother printers are very cheap now as well, entry level oones i have seen are Brother DCP 115C and Canon MP150 both under £75 and you can get everywhere.0
