You really should contact the student advice centre at your students union - they will be much more clued up on the regulations regarding students and benefits than the CAB. Students who have been incapable of work for 28 weeks become eligible for IS. Your LEA also has discretion to continue your student funding whilst you are on a leave of absence, but you need to ask and you will need medical evidence. Your SU advice centre will be able to help.
