Impending Redundancy and second job

This is a bit of a messy one on various levels, so any help you can give me would be fantastic. Our office is going to be shut down this year, and it is being integrated into the main head office in another part of the country. Now while we have been given an estimated time of redundancy, and given a 'draft redundancy payout figure', I don't believe that we have actually been given notice of the impending redundancy (although the consultation period has commenced and expired), however due the opportunity for colleagues to transfer to the other office, our redundancy hasn't been formally announced to us.

With this in mind, I'm thinking that potentially I have the opportunity to safeguard myself as much as possible against my creditcard payments. As I don't think I have been made formally redundant yet, am I able to and should I take out unemployment protection on all my creditcards given it will be several months before I'm unemployed. That is the first issue, although its widely talked about and we know what our package is likely to be, I don't believe we have received formal notification. What is the defining letter? Obviously, the credit card companies wouldn't payout if I've been given formal notice. Please advise.

Secondly, which could scupper the whole thing, is the fact that I have a second job which averages at 11.5 hours a week. Although I will be losing my main job (standard 37.5 pw), this one is more of a hobby despite now needing the income from the second job. Where do I stand on redundancy protection if I still have this job, which I'm intending to do?

I appreciate this is a very messy question, however any advice you can give would be brilliant. Although redundancy is never a good thing, my kids means that I will do my damndest to protect them by whatever means I can, even if its not strictly ethical (by which I mean abusing protection cover knowing that redundancy is coming, even if they are charging ridiculous interest lol).

    Its not a messy answer = No, you will not be able to do this.

    There will be a question on the form which will ask 'are you aware of any impending redundancy' or words to that effect if you answer 'no' you will be committing fraud or even obtaining money by deception And yes, they will find out because they will aslo send a form to your company with relevant questions and you could be prosecuted, with a criminal record, who is going to employ you then.

    If you work 11.5 hours, you'll be lucky if you can claim Jsa either.
