We stayed at Craig Tara last September, there was plenty to do and caravan was nice and clean. The beach at Craig Tara isn't great but if you go into Ayr there is a lovely sandy beach and just across the road a very good outdoor playground and also a soft play place called Pirate Pete's.

We would happily return to Craig Tara.

We're booked to go to Butlins Skegness in May but have never been to Butlins before, looking forward to it.

Another vote for Craig Tara, we have been three times staying in a Prestige caravan and love the place and are hoping to go again for a short break this year booked with Sun holidays.

We go early season so although the beach is not used for sunbathing it's great for exploring the many rock pools etc. The swimming pools are great, are on a few levels and have slides and water shutes. The shops are very well stocked and are actually not too pricey.

The town centre is not far away and I second a visit to Pirate Petes there is also a farm funhouse place right next to the park(come out and turn right instead of left to the town).

I have read negative reviews of the place and although I agree that the chalets look shabby I really can't understand why some people slate the complex.
  • Go to Butlins skegness, its fab - but google butlins skegness caravans and ull find much cheaper alternative to butlins own prices. The caravan park is on site, very near to everything...we are going back there.... kids loved it, pool excellent, entertainment was great and the town of ingoldmells - where butlins is actually situated - is brill. It has a massive market and a really great funfair like a mini pleasure beach but better and much cheaper, the rides go over and beside the market stalls. Butlins beach is great, traditional with bucket and spade stalls, deck chairs, donkey rides etc...cant fault it xx
