Misco - Avoid !!!!!

Never had such an appalling attitude. I wanted a Hannspree netbook which had cashback until midnight new years eve. The website said open until 5.45pm. Telephone message stated closed. Tried to order through website, IE8 and Chrome would not allow purchase, eventually managed through firefox only to find that as they would not ship until new year they would charge the increased VAT rate. When I spoke to them today they would rather cancel than allow the order to go through at the correct price. Needless to say I have accepted cancellation and will never again deal with them - can you imagine what would happen if there was a problem with your order ???

I would blame the tat change rather than the retailer - it was a daft day to up it.

Dabs - too expensive for most things I want and never use them - owned by BT so kind of explains it.

Indeed, and appalling 'customer service'. I stick with Amazon now
  • I don't see your point. New Year and a Bank Holiday. You were sitting comfortably at home and so did all the staff, I should think. Let them go home and you should have ordered earlier. You are buying a budget monitor and you wanted it delivered before New Years day and commit VAT fraud.
  • What absolute drivel - if you advertise on your website that you are open then it is reasonable to expect you to be open. Furthermore the order was placed and PAID FOR before the rise in VAT ! Incidently it was a netbook not a "budget monitor" and VAT is applicable at the time of sale not delivery - I was quite happy for them to deliver at any time in the new year.

My thoughts exactly when I read the OP, aren't netbooks supposed to be on the way out anyway? be more organised next time, place your order in good time and stop whining.

    k thx bye :)

When did you expect they was gonna ship, and specialy if you ordered by 5:45pm of course all courier and shipping services will be closed its new years eve.

The VAT should be applied at the rate applicable when the order is paid for - not when it is shipped !!

Orders are normally charged for when shipped, which suits 99% of people, rather than having money taken from cards when orders aren't dispatched. Amazon work in this way as well as the other retailers mentioned. Which is why if you order £100 of goods and £50 worth are out of stock, you'll see £50 taken from your card when the first segment is shipped and the remainder as and when that is shipped.

Blinking part-timers, wanting a day off just because it's New Year's Day, Hang the lot of 'em!
If your payment was taken then you have an argument re VAT, if it wasn't then maybe Gordon Brown is the person you have a complaint with?
I suspect the cashback would have more than covered the VAT increase, so you may have bitten your own nose there..
