Please Help me with Microsoft Money

All I want to do is copy my finances file onto my laptop. Am sure I have done it before on a previous laptop.
Copied file and the backup to flash then tried copying to laptop. No chance. Tried restoring the backup instead and that didn't like it either. What am I doing wrong?

Hi,

I had a similar problem last month when I moved to a new laptop.

If you've installed a clean copy of Money on your new laptop, then you need to open sample.mny first and then connect to the internet so that it can update the share prices etc. This might take a while, but a pop-up then appears asking if you would like to update Money itself - you need to do this before you can open your old file (your old version of Money probably had this update installed). The pop-up appeard on my computer the third time I opened Money's sample.mny file.

One it's been updated, your original money file should open.
