sky or ntl/ telewest

Hi
i currently have sky + but am coming towards the end of my contract, we are about to buy a hd tv but i'm not sure that i want to pay sky the £300 for the hd box as in a year i know they will be cheaper, I don't think we are in a telewest area but can get ntl (are they now the same company) what i love about the sky + is the ability to record more than one show at a time and the easy use epg does the ntl service offer the same, What is tv on demand? can you set the ntl box to record future progs, can you record and play at the same time etc, i've checked out the website but none of the basics seem to be covered
cheers

    Hi

Not sure I have got this right but.....

Keep your Sky + box, get your HD telly, and wait for the Sky HD price to drop. I really dont think HD is "all that" at the moment.

I have Sky + and a HD Telly, and for the moment all I get is normal telly, but on a telly that takes up less room!

Cant answer about Telewest or NTL, someone will probably be along soon.....

TV on demand is, I think IPTV, or TV that you "download" when you want it, much like Sky Box Office, but with far more choice of time and program.

ntl doesn't currently offer a PVR, they're working hard on taking on the telewest PVR which also does HD. My guess would be end of this year, early next year for the ntl PVR. What hi-fi has a rather good review of living with HD from both TW and Sky and might be worth a look.

Basically it boiled down to the fact that Sky has the sport and some movies in HD and TW had VoD and most of the BBC/ITV/C4 HD content. Sky was more expensive to start with and the monthly costs about the same.
