Need a Washing Machine and Tumble dryer --But what to buy ?

Options
I'm moving in to my new house at the backend of this week and need to buy a washing machine and a tumble dryer.

They are both going in the utility room under the worktop.

We have three children so need good capacity/quality.

Dryer needs to be a condenser type.

Can anyone advise on some good models/brands and maybe somewhere to get them from ?

Don't want to spend more than £1k but would like excellent quality/value for money.

I like the bosch ones but then the AEG ones sounds good too.

Any one help ?

Si

This guy's site is good: https://www.washerhelp.com

There is a link to it somewhere else on this site, possibly in this forum.

    I recommend Zanussi myself!

Try John Lewis, their customer service is good and they usually give longer guarantees.

I have a bosch wasing machine and I would definitely get another one, they're quiet, relatively quick (depending on cycle choice) and water efficient. The tumble drier is a creda one, and that's OK too - it's 10 years old and still going strong.

    Hi.
1k is a huge budget for these two appliances. I work in Currys, and sell quite a few of them. Zanussi and AEG are both good (they should be, they are both electrolux brands), but check out Miele and Siemens (Siemens work closely with Bosch.
There is a Siemens 1200 spin we are doing for £400 plus delivery. It is 6kg, but can I suggest you take a little time to wiegh what you normally put in the machine. You would be surprised how light the load actually is.
Best thing about the Siemens is the warranty. 5 years parts and labour included (and the reason they offer you that is that you are unlikely to need it).
With regards to condensor dryers, check out ones with an auto sensor in. You set it to 'iron dry' or extra dry' and the machine beeps when the clothes are ready. Beats guessing any day.
Bosch, Siemens, AEG and Zanussi are all pretty good.

    Thanks for your posts everyone.

    I'm no further forward though.

I really like the build quality of Bosch and would be happy with them but then Siemens and AEG both have 5 year warranties.

    Then FrostySpice recommends Zanussi........

    This is a nightmare.

Miele are clearly the best as I've read over and over again but that comes at a very very high price so looks like I have to choose from Bosch, Siemens, AEG and Zanussi.

I think Bosch would be my first choice but then like I said ( was told ) a 5 year warranty is very good and not to be sneezed at.

GerretI, thanks for the tip on auto senor with the condensor dryer

OK, I've narrowed it down a little as I don't like the look of the AEG ones..........Had to fine something to narrow them now.

I'm going to pass over on Zanussi too so that leaves me with either Bosch or Siemens.

Going to take a close look at there specs on there websites.

Dont have the numbers to hand but have the bosch classix maxx condensor dryer - very happy with it and also my son has a newer bosch one and also happy - they seem good machines - buy both and stack them is a good idea though.
Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j
  • go for Miele washer. check out prices on the internet and you should getone in your price bracket. excellent build quality and customer service.
Have you considered a gas White Knight tumble dryer? Not expensive but can save loads on your bills. i reckon it saves us £70 per year. All you need is a gas connection point. don't know if they do condensation type.
