I second Nigella's! They're a fave in this house and I made them for Xmas Day brekkie... doing the dough in the Kenwood (for the first time as it was a teeeeny bit early Xmas Pressie) on Xmas eve then leaving it to do final rise in the fridge overnight. Left them to warm a bit before shoving in oven on Xmas Day morning and they were huuuuge and puffy, then the leftovers are in the freezer for a lazy weekend treat :j:eek:0

I used to make it with bread dough, just added a bit of sugar to the dough and once it was risen I would roll it out fairly thinly, buttered the surface and then covered it with cinnamon powder and sugar, then rolled it up again and baked it.
My kids loved it much more than the shop-bought stuff! Thank you for helping me remember this recipe, I might just make it again - it must be at least 10 years since I last made it!Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Would I not need to add sugar to the bread dough to make it sweeter? Or just normal white dough would do?
Thanks everyone! Think I will just have a go and see what happens!0 -
