Why is everyone's car insurance cheaper than mine??

I've just bought a fiesta (1.3), I'm 24 and had my licence since July; the best quote I've found is for about £1200. I've just read another thread on here by WillF and he's the same age as me, had his licence about the same amount of time as me but is only paying £600!! That's with Quinn but my quote from them was double that! Does anyone know where I'm going wrong? Cheers

My husband's Quinn quote was reduced when we included me on the policy, even though I only have a provisional - very strange!

Down to many things really, the location where the car is stored overnight, the area you live in eg high crime rate, have you made any claims in the past, the car your trying to insure

that might be because as your a prov holder you need an experienced driver to be in the car when you drive which makes you less of a risk than having a full license

Be prepared for a surprise eg them asking you for a large extra premium when you advise them you have passed your test.

I've put it's to be stored on a drive. I've never made a claim before.
  • put an experienced driver on the policy with you.

i let my dad borrow my car when i go to see him, he has a car of his own but shares that with my mum, as he is buying car parts which are often large he needs the extra bootspace my car provides and we often have to go to places i dont know. he is already covered by his and my policies allowing him as he has owners permission but naming him on the policy makes it cheaper, i'm 28 and have had a license for 5 and a bit years
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
BH is my best mate too, its ok :)

I trust BH even if he's from Manchester.. ;)

try putting that is 'garaged' overnight and a totall different area postcode,,what is your job? that can cause 100% increase(loading),what sort of excess are you willing to pay

Don't believe how much people say they're paying for car insurance.
