A day around Stourbridge - what to do?

OH is off making soap for the day next month. We have a 1 year old. Is there any good shopping close by, perhaps a swimming pool (of decent quality)? or good days out nearby?

I'm not all that local but Merry Hill Shopping Centre in Dudley is a metropolis and the Black Country Living Museum is fun too - although perhaps not the thing for a 1 year old.

West Midlands Safari Park is open at the Weekends. My kids both love it still but did so from an early age! If it is a weekend day then that would be top of my list :)

Merry Hill has a little kiddy soft-play centre with a cafe for the grown ups. You can't leave them to shop but it's a nice place to take a little one and it's not too bad for the grown ups! They do little kiddy cars for the kids in the shopping centre too.

The Glades I think it's called, in Kidderminster is a pool with a wave machine etc.

Stourbridge itself is a relatively small town.
It consists of a high street which has a combination of a handful of well know shops and a few independant stores. It also has a variety of pubs and restaurants to eat out at.

There is a lesiure centre in Stourbridge (crystal lesiure centre) which has both a normal swimming pool and also a fun pool which consists of slides / wave machine / rapids but also has a shallow pool for younger children. Forest Glades was mentioned in a previous post but this is around a 15 - 20 min drive away.

A short walk from town is a indoor play centre it is called chilly Kiddies There is parking outside in case, this also has a smaller play area for babies.

There is also a large park in Stourbridge (Mary Stevens park) it has a large lake to feed the ducks swans etc and a good play area for children

Otherwise in Stourbridge this is prettty much it I am afraid you will have to take the car out for a drive.

The Merry hill centre is about a 10 minute drive from Stourbridge and is well signposted. This is a massive shopping centre but as mentioned does have a childrens play area. Parking is currently free but if coming on a weekned can be rather busy.

In Dudley there is a zoo and castle ( i haven't been for years so I can't comment on what it is like) but this is mostly an up hill walk

The black country museum is a good day out but you are outdoors for the most of it so given the current weather may not be the best idea

Other things in the area (within a 5 mile drive are)
    Kingswinford Glass museum
    Stourbrdge Bonded warehouse
    dudley canals and limestone mine
    dudley art gallery
    Himley Hall
Cinema and bowling alley in Dudley

If you try the local website dudley.gov.uk it has loads of helpful information.

    I hope this helps
