Hi there
With all this footie and England through again (happy even though am even though am Scottish) We seem to be making use of our new gas barbie but it is costing a small forture.
Any ideas on nice cheap foodie goodies for the upcoming bbq's.
Any help much appreciated.

You could make your own burgers. And veggie burgers might go down well with some people. (It's quite easy to make your own beanburgers.)
Different types of salads and dips, with cheap tortilla chips to serve with the bbq'd food. Maybe a large potato salad and hm coleslaw, some roast veg couscous salad. You could put veg on a stick with some bbq sauce and put that on too. (Chunks of pepper, onion, whole mushroom, courgette...
You could do a load of baked potatoes in the oven to cut down on the amount of bbqing you need to do too.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Hi Teresa, just to add to Gingham's suggestion re veggie kebabs, I make these quite regularly on the bbq with 2 or 3 cubes of marinated meat interspersed as well. That way the meat eaters are satisified, but the cost is kept down.
Corn on the cob, wrapped in foil is good too, also some garlic/herb bread as a filler.

There's a whole bunch of helpful threads in the Cooking section of the MEGA Index listed under "Barbecue".

Get a banana, slice it lengthways whilst it's still in it's skin (making sure you don't go through the skin at the bottom) and stuff it with chocolate buttons. Wrap with foil and put on the bbq until chocolate has melted. Yummy!0

If you are just feeding the family, well you're actually probably not spending much more than you would for an indoor meal.
If, as I suspect, you are feeding friends who happen to call round to watch the footie with you, then ask them to contribute to the party! If one brought a pack of burgers, another brought sausages, someone bring chicken drumsticks, and even rope someone in to contribute a bowl of salad, then it won't all fall to you to provide everything for everyone.
Once or twice is fine, but if they are making a habit of scrounging off you then you need to talk straight with them!I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe
