MS Outlook 2007 Issue

I recently started using Outlook 2007 for my email and have noticed that if I open it and cancel the password prompt that my Inbox is still accessible and messages can be read. I think that messages must be downloaded to my PC as I read them. This allows anyone using my PC to read my messages even though they don't know my password.
Does this sound right and is there any way to prevent it? Also is there a way to delete the local copies of messages already here?

It sounds like the password prompt that you mention is the password to access your mail server to allow Outlook to download the messages. By default Outlook will download all messages on the mail server to its data file on the had drive. By cancelling the password prompt, all you are doing is preventing it from retrieving the latest emails.
Here is an article on how to password protect the data file that Outlook uses to store your emails, it will add some security. (The article is for Outlook 2003 but the same principle applies to 2007)
