if the netbook is powerful enough it might be worth installing the ubuntu netbook remix.

Format the C:\ drive and install Microsoft Windows - all your problems will go away.;)
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

What OS is actually installed on the netbook?
Not just "linux" - which distribution - ubuntu, red hat, there are so many....but knowing that means its easier to tell how to get flash on it.

A simple trick to get flash is to open your web browser, hopefully its Firefox on there - visit www.youtube.com - play any video and if flash is not already installed, the browser will prompt you to download and install it.

Once flash is on - you just need to install a messenger like pidgin to get your msn messaging going.

If its Ubuntu which a lot are go to add remove programs and find a msn compatible messenger. You will also be able to install flash player. If its another linux distro come back and someone will be able to tell you how to install software
