    I don't do kitchens

Most of my groceries are from M&S ready meals, fruit etc.

I have a friend like this (not the 'I don't do kitchens' bit, but the shopping in M&S). She is on much higher money than me, but I can afford a good holiday each year (cruising in Alaska this summer) whereas she manages a long weekend in a cottage in the back of beyond!

At 33 years of age, you ought to 'do kitchens'. IMO it's something to be ashamed of, not being able to cook for yourself (rather like 'being too posh to push'). Very few of us are born cooks, but we learn, often through necessity, and are healthier for it. Ready meals often contain far higher levels of salt, sugar and fat than are necessary.

You still seem to me to be looking to BR as your saviour. As almost everyone else has said, this will not teach you how to manage your money. Take the bull by the horns - pay your debts off yourself, no matter how long it takes, this will teach you something you maybe ought to have learned many years ago!

Sorry if I sound harsh, but tough love is not to be sniffed at :D
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
  • Suzie, there are loads of simple recipes available online that you could try. You just need to get some basics in your kitchen cupboard such as tinned tomatoes, tomatoe puree, mixed herbs, dried pasta etc etc and have a bash - you might find you enjoy it (especially if you use a Friday or Saturday evening with a bottle of pinot grigio to aid concentration)

Instead of having an evening out, why don't you invite a couple of friends around and ask one to make a starter and the other make a pudding and you make the main course - and each to supply a bottle of wine. Cheap night in for all!

You have masses of potential for making huge savings on your outgoings to throw at your debts and anyone sensible can see this - you just need to focus and get on with it!!!!!

Start to have a sort out over the weekend of clothes/shoes and other stuff you no longer use/need and start putting it on ebay - think carefully on when your listings are timed to end though.
  • How's it going Suzie?

  • Hello Mse fighters Still here hanging in

Thanks for all the tips re cooking

I have had a really good weekend with no unneccessary spending

A few drinks on Friday, sledging and a house party on Saturday and went to visit my parents today -priceless-

I told them I had an appt. in the CAB on Thursday and I sensed a weakening in their resolve not to give me a chunk of money in order to help me avoid bankruptcy

Oh no I hear you all scream not again but I am determined to keep up my money saving ways

I need to sort this out for myself if I am to have a vestige of pride left.

Even looked at cheaper properties nearer to my work Need to do some blue sky thinking re where I live what I drive and what I wear.

    I know it

loads of hugggs over the net to my new found friends at Mse

    Suzy xx

We have shop at lidl and there food is great if you are not sure on a canned product then buy 1 try it and see what its like..

When I split from my 1st wife in the 90's a store had just opened close to me and i could live on about a £10 a week you just have to be a little creative..

IE there dried paster is great but mix 50/50 milk and water and add some ham and musrooms to eat and its great! and so filling... :D
