my sis and i each have an ipod mini.
what would happen if i was to plug my ipod into her computer, so that i could add her music collection to my ipod?
would it simply transfer, or not?

Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.

I think it would let you copy it over but it would replace anything on your Ipod
I've never tried doing that, but when my sister plugs her Ipod into my computer to charge it, it usually asks if I want to associate that Ipod with my Itunes - and I tell it no.
However, the Ipod won't let you transfer the songs onto your computer - see this thread0 -
It would work without a problem, as long as you set the preference in iTunes to NOT sync automatically. If you leave it on sync automatically your iPod will get wiped and the library replaced with hers. If you sync manually it's just a matter of dragging and dropping whatever you want to add onto your iPod in iTunes.
What sra says is right wrt not being able to transfer songs off the iPod - the transfer is one-way. Unless of course you've got a mac then it's actually very simple to transfer songs off by using terminal. Or if you use something like anapod explorer then you can tranfer songs with impunity.Wot, no sig?0
