Whose responsibility BT or Tiscali?

I recently moved house and moved my calls and broadband back to BT, this was on 29 October 09, all set up, no problems, very smooth, until now.

I noticed yet another low user change for caller display which I thought was unusual as I was sure I'd made phone calls, then I receive a bill from my previous provider Tiscali!

BT will now move my calls to BT on 19 Jan 10, despite me having in writing that this would be done when I moved house back in October.

Tiscali can't explain why my account was not closed like I had requested and I'm sorry to report the person I spoke to did not understand me. She just kept repeating the amount I owed. I had explained I was calling to pay my bill so this didn't feel very helpful.

It all seems to have been sorted out but I'm the one who is out of pocket and had to do the running around.

So who should have actioned my request in the first place? Tiscali when I told them i was moving and cancelling all services with them or BT when I took out my weekend call plan and made it clear I wanted them to provide all services?

    Best of luck.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
