Someone must have left a really hot mug of tea or soup on the arm of my new black leather sofa and left a partial ring burn mark
would this be the shiney surface burnt off and if so is it possible to treat the affected area at all, does anyone know please ?
really annoyed !:mad: and my eye is drawn to it every time I enter the room !!

It really depends on the leather, my parents sofa is easy to clean and remove narks but mine is a !!!!!! and so hard to clean!
You could contact the place where you bought it and see if they have any advise for you.

I wouldn't do that, try a local upholsterer, they will be able to repair the damage.0 -
Black shoe polish and then buffed well - wont harm it even if it doesnt do anything.
Black marker pen NO000000000000make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

there are a few tricks that may work. ironing over brown wrapping paper or a damp teatowel may do it.
or rubbing with the edge of a coin. you will need to rub the mark for some time, ie ten minutes or more.Get some gorm.0 -

Yes ive read this before somewheres about the iron - Im assuming that as its a type of varnish over the top of the leather ( shiney DFS type ) if this is warmed up and smudged in to the gaps left by the super red hot surface of the sun type mug full of liquid they left there :mad: ! it would even out the look perhaps
also the coin thing I ve read someplace - but I thought that was for fabric sofa / cushions only ?As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question !0 -
ive use both methods, with some success, on car leather work.
ive never tried on a leather sofa.
the ironing method certainly works fine on cabinet wood.
and the results will probably depend on how real the leather is?
god knows what chemicals they use on leather these days.Get some gorm.0 -
