I have been told by OH that he'll propose when I'm debt free.... but then he'll say we don't have enough money to get married so saving will be the next thing to do lol!
I really want a dog as OH is away a lot of weekends as in reserve forces and I would feel safer at home alone and I miss my black lab who was put down last year. We can't really afford another one at the moment so I think a pooch is high on the list of celebration treats!
Mainly it'll just be nice not to have to think about the debt all the time, even though it is small compared to a lot of people it is still there...roll on December 2010 when it should all be gone :j

Seriously - when I'm debt free I'm going to have a camping holiday by the sea in a little place in Wales called Mwnt. Cheap cheerful and it's a place I've always wanted to go to.
    Love Sassers x

    I've been to Mwnt, it's bloomin' gorgeous:D

When I'm debt free I will be booking my sky diving course:j

Buffer/emergency fund for us, and then holiday somewhere. Got a few years to think about it yet!

No treats. Just save save save and save like mad. I treated myself enough whilst getting into debt.
  • I'm going to sell my current car & buy a Nissan Figaro :D

And look into getting my own place. Sharing is awful!

I'd say to use whatever motivates you, and keep focussing on that.

I became debt-free recently (last day of November) and, like some others who've replied, am now very much focussed on saving. I've found that I feel much more possessive about my money now that it's finally my own - don't completely understand this, as if I'd felt 'possessive' about money before I could probably have cleared my debts quicker... I might well relax a little later this year (would love a holiday abroad - would be the first time in 10 years) but at the moment the focus is definitely on feeling I've got a reasonable financial safety net in place.

I'm going to start saving to buy my own house.

But before that I'm going to go out and celebrate like it is going out of fashion.

My treat will be me saving to take my DD and me away on a holiday to Japan as my DD REALLY wants to go there! She is Japanese obsessed!!!

I am hoping to try and get debt free by the end of 2011 if I can...Have about £13k worth of debt to clear. I have been debt busting for the last 2 years and explained to my DD yesterday that the more cautious we are with spending, the sooner our holiday will be. Worked a treat in the supermarket today. Every time I picked something up she said 'do we really need 'x' or would we prefer Japan' :) Worked a treat...lets hope she remembers it for the next 2 years!!! I know I will as have realised that enough is enough!

After the holiday will be saving like mad for a house for us to live in...a nice one as opposed to the dive we have now!!!

  • I want a baby but I know that we wouldn't be able to keep our heads above the water if I was on maternity pay. Once we are debt free, one wage will cover all our bills etc so we would be able to manage. So once debt free freedom is in sight, we shall mostly be attempting to make babies! I want to have a baby by 2012 at the latest!

    Debt-free and Proud!
Yes! Once I am debt free I hope to take my OH to the Philippines in January 2010 for his 30th birthday. Its not quite sensible (since he wont be debt free for a while after that), but its massively important for me so the dreams of volcanoes and islands all to ourselves keep me focused!
