American cruises- non nationals can't book

Tried to book cruise via Vacations to go.com but told various cruise lines will not permit US travel agents from booking cruises for non US or Canadian citizens.
The lines include Holland America, MSC, Princess, Royal Carribean and Star Clippers.
Any suggestions as to how to get round this out there?
Happy new years folks

I was only told that they aren't allowed to sell cruises with flights included just Cruise Only.

    Try this website

    http://www.cruisecompete.com/

This is also a really good website where you put in your requirements and travel agencies come back with prices (i.e. compete for your business). You specify that you are from the UK so they only quote if they can fulfil your requirements.

    They state on the website
However, the following cruise lines now prohibit all U.S. travel agencies (including Vacations To Go) from selling cruises to citizens of countries other than the U.S. and Canada, unless they have a residence in the U.S. or Canada. This is not a Vacations To Go policy or a U.S. government policy, it is a corporate policy instituted by each of these cruise lines.

the other one to add is
Residents of the U.K. may not book P&O Cruises through Vacations To Go.

I guess the alternative is to find a UK agent to book through - there are a few that will offer competative prices - I priced one with Vacations to go (not for one of the listed companies) and it came out the same price as booking with an agent in the UK
  • Hi Caz it is the same for US car hire we are not allowed to sell US car hire to non UK residents as we can buy it in cheaper than the US market therefore sell it cheaper.

    I am a travel agent
My company’s ABTA number is L5039. MSE doesn't check my status as a Travel Agent, so you need to take my word for it or go to the ABTA wesite and look up my abta no. .This signature is here as I follow MSE's Travel Agent Code of Conduct.
  • You will find it difficult to book Holland America Cruise without a US address. (Relation /friend, etc) You can book other Cruise Lines, try www.yourcruisesgents.com they maybe able to help

It will depend on the cruise line - as in the info from the site
it is a corporate policy instituted by each of these cruise lines.
there are many other cruise lines that are fine to book with US agents

Are you saying your inlaws book one of the companies the OP mentioned and book it through a US agent?
