Mastercard and tcd refusing to refund

We hve been trying to claim back from Mastercard for some 16 months now. they are stating that they need only repay the portion of the transaction that was paid on the card and that the law has been challenged in court.

We paid 153 on the mastercard and then a futher 270 by other means. they have refunded the 153 but say that there has been a legal challenge and that the authority is liable for the other portion is this right.

I presume you are talking about claiming under the section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 for a transaction you made on your credit card.

You are not claiming against Mastercard but your credit card issuer.

You can ask your provider for a 'deadlock' letter and complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service - you may want to call the FOS to discuss your case before you do so.

Each case the FOS agree to look at costs the financial institution money (more than the £270 you are still seeking). You may also want to look at this and this

You also have the option of taking your supplier and the credit card company to the Small Claims Court.
