I want to praise this company as I have never really had a bad period with them they have always been helpful to me and all my family.
My mum suffers from health problems and needs access to the phone in emergencys and they have came out in a 4 hour period when we suffer from any breakdowns.
Today 02 offered me a great deal of £10 a month for double the speed and unlimited usage of broadband. which sounded great nevermind the £100 cashback quidco offered.
I called VM to ask them if I could cancel my broadband with them and was told if I did so I would lose my £23 discount I had. But after the old chit chat the lady said I will give you a free router to stay which I said I already had.
In the end after stating what I wanted .... V+ HD box I was offered If I stay
V+HD box £30 Installation (Usually £70)
NO charge monthly for HD
Sky Movies
Large Broadband
PC Guard.
So now I have
XL TV, Unlimited Phone, Line rental, Large Broadband, Sky Sports, Sky Movies, Additional v box, plus V+ HD box.
£69.75
I am very happy and have never recieved poor service. ( which I told the agent)
Well done VM !

How did you manage that deal - very impressive.
I find that if you check the deal for new customers each year and then phone and threaten to leave (but nicely) they are good at giving you a deal but I've never managed anything like that before0 -
mr ant pays our bill so i dont really know what it is. it should be approx £70 a month i think. he threatened to leave unless he got another v+ box for the kitchen [have 1 in the living room also] with free installation. they kept bartering buit he stuck to his guns and got the free installation, a £20 reduction per month in our bill and a larger tv and broadband package.
wish imcould be persuasive like he is. did us a riht favour. There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -
Basically this is how we got the deal above..
After the 12months, take a look around at what new customers are being offered. We were on a normal Samsung box, and just had bought a HD tv. So of course we wanted the HD channels, plus the normal channels through the HDMI lead. A far far better picture, even on normal channels.
Ring up for retentions, and see what they will offer you. Usually some poor deal, which of course you will 'have a think about' and leave it.
Then about 3-4 days later, ring up and cancel the package. Your not happy with the deal they have offered and are going to go for freesat as its cheaper for the year. Your going to get a HD freesat box, with personal video recorder (PVR). No matter what they offer you, cancel and give them 28days notice.
Next step,
Wait...
Soon the box will arrive to put the old virgin box into, ignore this box and keep it aside. Mark on the calander when the 28 days are up, and towards the 20th day the phone will start to ring with Virgins 'Special Customer Service Retention Team', as them what they can offer you, as you wanted the HD V+ box, a free wireless router etc.
Let them speak, then ask them to call you back why you have a chat. Tell them to give you 10mins. (At this point, i was jumping round the kitchen in Joy). The guy rang back and we pushed him for a free HDMI lead.;
The trick here is to cancel, and wait for the 28 days to finish. If they dont ring, and you want to keep the service going. Then you can ring up on day 27/28 and tell them that you want to stay for another month.
Nothing will be lost, and all is to play for..

Didn't exactly push him, they come included with the V+ box. We never had to ask for one when we had our 2 boxes installed.0 -
