Hotels4U

Options
I've just booked a hotel in Egypt through Hotels4U which is apparently part of the Thomas Cook Group. I went through topcashback for 7% cashback.

After booking I received an invoice which I downloaded, this contained details on how much I had paid, what was outstanding and some reference numbers. I did not receive an e-mail, so contacted them 2 days later asking why & was told that their e-mail servers were down so they'd manually send one out. That came through as an "accommodation voucher" but I haven't had any information about how to pay the remaining balance, no login details like you'd expect from a Thomas Cook site, nothing at all really. Not very happy with it, as I used sunshine.co.uk last time and it was much better.

So if anyone has used Hotels4U can you let me know what will happen next? Will they send something through the post, or is this literally it and I've got to call to pay the balance & hope for the best when going away.

Cheers
Scott

Use them quite a bit but normally pay when we book.
Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!
    • Check out their terms and conditions (below). If you've paid a deposit you'll need to pay the balance 8 weeks before you check in - don't worry though, they'll chase you for payment if you owe them

BTW sunshine.co.uk are a travel agent, hotels4u.com are a bed bank - you'll normally get a better deal going direct to a bedbank as travel agents earn commission on what you pay. Also Thomas Cook are about as safe an option as you can go for - there have been a few failures of travel agencies recently like Freedom Direct. Play safe is my advice and if you can get cash back too, that's a bonus

      '2. Payments

If you make a booking more than 56 days before you are due to arrive at your accommodation, you must pay a deposit of £60 per person which will be collected from you at the time of booking. If the value of your booking is lower than the total deposit due, we will collect only the total booking value. If the difference between the total booking value and the total deposit due is less than £60 the total booking value will be collected at the time of booking. If your booking is subject to a deposit payment, you must pay us the balance by the balance due date on your customer invoice. If your booking is made less than 56 days before you are due to arrive at your accommodation, full payment is required at the time of booking. If we do not receive all payments due in full and on time, we are entitled to assume (on behalf of the principal(s) concerned) that you wish to cancel your booking. In this case, we will retain your deposit in order to cover our fee and the cancellation charge of the principal. If we do not cancel straight away because you have promised to make payment, you must pay the cancellation charges shown in clause 6 depending on the date we reasonably treat your booking as cancelled (on behalf of the principal(s) concerned).
Payment for incidental extras (e.g. mini bars, telephone charges, etc.) must be made directly to the principal before you check out. '
    • I've booked a room in Golden Beach Hotel(Skiathos) through Hotels4U and I have the same problems.
