Our washing machine died this evening halfway through a load. DH managed to get the door open and rinsed the soapy clothes out in the shower, but there's a fair amount of water still in the drum. We've got a new one coming Wednesday but need to know how to remove as much water as poss from the old one so the Comet guys can take it away. Any ideas?
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

Perhaps a siphon? Or do you have a garden? Could you manoevre it out and then just turn in on it's front? Bit heavy I suppose. There are some suggestions here http://www.washerhelp.co.uk/diy-repair-help_3.html0

the only other option is to disconnect the pipe from the water pump and drain it into a bowl. this would involve tipping the washer back about a foot0

If you have a Removable pipe that usually fits over some sort of drain pipe, behind your machine, THEN
if possible lower this pipe to a bowl or back door etc, it should then siphon out
, fingers Xed. :j!!!!!!There are More Questions Than Answers!!!!!!
:search: But I Just Don't Have Any Answers :idea:0 -
There should be a filter/drain point at the bottom front of the machine. If you can get a shallow tray in underneath it and unscrew it, the water will drain out there.
It is there to filter the waste water as it leaves.0 -
The pipe at the back of the machine when taken down to floor level into a wasing up bowl, should drain the water into the bowl, then change to 3 inch high pot, then a 2 inch high tray, then a 1 inch high tray, you get the picture.0
