I have just got a A&L current acct due to the fact that it was more financially rewarding than Halifax Saver Reward. However, on reading threads, horrified!
Even tho' I have said they can move my direct debits etc they have not yet sent me a list of them. Can I still get out of this acct or is it too late as have sent me cheque card and acct no?
Help!

You can close it at any time you like.
If you want to cancel the transfer of standing orders and direct debits, make sure you tell them, as if they don't hear from you, they may just transfer all of them.0 -
A+L current account is not as attrative as you might think. If you read the small print, you will see it is easy to rack up charges."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Pheww! Thanks very much for that! Can I do it over the phone? I'm wary that they may do it wether I want them to or not, i.e ineffiency.0

I too read all the bad things about A&L and was worried about my account but TBH its all been fine. £100 paid for opening went in no bother (same with my partner)
Actually did have to complain to them about my OH's account and they credit a £50 goodwill payment to him. That was before they were part of santander right enough!0 -
Run away while you still can!0

Have to say I have had nothing but good stuff from A&L - £100 payment went in quickly and the transfer of payments was dead simple!Clearing debt to save for a simple wedding.Starting 2016 With debt of £77000

I opened an A&L current account last year to take advantage of the 6%
Also read threads on here but went ahead anyway.
Must say its been fine - no issues at all.
In fact A&L Debit card came to the rescue on holiday in Canada when my Nationwide card was rejected by ATM.
So its get a thumbs up from me for that alone!0 -
Have been with A & L for over 20yrs and had no issues with them at all lots of family members bank with them trouble free also... as long as you are fully aware of the terms and conditions and realise they will charge if you go overdrawn you will be fine... keep within the terms and conditions and read the small print.#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j
