Dishwasher Help Please

Hi All,
I have a Hotpoint Aquarius DWF 32 dishwasher and it isn't working properly. I am not exactly sure what is wrong with it but think that it is not heating the water. The timer is now also going down and it is sometimes just showing the number 1 on the screen (might be an error code).
I've searched the web a bit and I am now a bit stuck as the best thing to do. It was in the house when we moved in so is at least 3 years old.
I checked Hotpoint's website and it seems you can get a guaranteed repair for one off fee of around £75 (no hidden extra costs). Not sure whether to do this or just buy a new one. Would try to fix ourselves but not great with this type of thing.
Any thoughts or advice appreciated.
