Seems like they did this last year as well...

Its very expensive for a baby swing though, especially considering they grow out of them quickly!0 -
I'll be interested to see peoples responses on this. My hunch is that there isn't a great deal you can do about it (other than ask argos if you can purchase it now but will wait til it comes in stock to receive it). It is a bit cheeky of them though IMO.0

b33r - we've tried that, they cant sell something that isn't in stock apparently... i don't see the point of putting something in the sale with over 60% off if they've never had it to sell in the first place!0

thanks pulliptears, just checked the link for last years i cant believe they can do that tow years running, think its a scam?0

Argos do produce the sale brochures some time in advance and could well have one or two kicking around at the time and are using the item as a teaser. Not illegal but maybe a bit wrong though! These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -
I'd write to the head office pointing out the problem and asking if they'll honour the sale price for you afterwards. You have no right to demand that though. Alternatively you could just refer the whole matter to the advertising standards authority and trading standards.0

I have exactly this problem right now. everyday I have been checking the Argos website for the Debut Premier 6ft Pool Table, reduced from £249.99 to £49.99, and they have not had it in stock or available for home delivery at all yet.
Funnily enough I've been after a pool table for a while now, and all pool tables have been permanently in stock since I started checking in August, so I saw no need to rush out and buy one, but lo and behold the very first time I check in the sale there are none.
I notice it says the price is £49.99 until 12th Jan... You can bet your life it will be back in stock on the 13th Jan!!
Not sure if there is anything I can do about it, as after reading the great DSi for £79.99 thread it seems Argos are unwilling to compromise to say the least!0 -

FYI
I used to work for another well known (obviously not Argos) mail order/high street catalogue group
we used to be working on the christmas catalogue fromApril to June, was quite handy then, as you get to find out what was going to be the best sellers;);)
