Windows 2000 is quite an old OS now, although it should work ok, I would check it is fully up to date with SP4 though.
The other thing is that it will probably have Internet Explorer 6, which will struggle with a lot of websites - I would install Firefox which is a lot more compatible.0 -
thankyou is up to date and have tried firefox and the world with no joy just will not display page0
-
Ok, try this then - open a command prompt (start >programs >accessories >command prompt)
Type ping https://www.bbc.co.uk
Do you get a reply?
If not type ping 212.58.253.68
Do you get a reply now?0 -

If you don't get a ping reply from the IP address I gave you, then you are not connected to the internet.says destination host unreachable
Is this PAYG or contract - PAYG will need credit adding before it will connect, monthly may be waiting for a SIM update.
Also, what is your 3G signal strength showing - if it's poor, you may not get a connection where you are.0 -
repeat the above properly and get bytes=32 time=282 ttl=115
packets sent=4 recieved 2 lost =50% and some other stuff about round trip times and milli-seconds
sorry im a novice at this0 -
and signal strength is really good was activated over xmas and direct debit they charging from 14th on a monthly contract so i hope they put the money on the sim was a christmas pressie for her0
-
50% packet loss means only half of the data is getting through - which is really bad. Sounds like signal strength - try moving the laptop around (near a window, front and back, upstairs), or putting the dongle on the end of a USB extension cable to get more height.repeat the above properly and get bytes=32 time=282 ttl=115
packets sent=4 recieved 2 lost =50% and some other stuff about round trip times and milli-seconds
sorry im a novice at this
