i wish to open a bank account with a passbook - i know that the interest rates are lower but if i open a internet account i spend the savings to easily
If i get a passbook i will find it harder to withdraw the cash - any idea which accounts are the best (interest wise)
i wish to invest between £500 and £1000 per month but being self employed i need access to the account just in case of emergencies
cheers

Have you used up your cash ISA allowance for this tax year? Most building societies offer reasonable rates on cash-ISA's which are branch based, e.g. Yorkshire BS 30 day notice ISA paying 4.55% plus a 0.35% bonus after 2 years; or Britannia BS cash ISA, 4.45% with instant access.
Britannia also do a regular saver ISA payin 4.75% that may be suitable.
Branch based accounts that are not ISA's are generally a bit pants. Yorkshire BS notice saver not too bad at 3.5% gross.Midas.0
