Lithium batteries should not be fully discharged.
So if you have performed a full discharge/charge cycle ( or it's been allowed to fully discharge) it won't help it at all and won't charge/hold it's charge properly. Car batteries have a similar "feature" once discharged many are scuppered.

They have to be charged fully without interruption as per manufacturers specifications (best leave it for 24h+ If the charging cycle is interrupted even for a few minutes, the longevity and capacity of the battery is reduced. They are also not great if used in a device that is on mains - usually laptops. They die very quickly.
They are best used frequently with small discharge.charge cycles - like a phone I would have thought as it should not be charging constantly, but should always be returned to it's charging cradle and not allowed to go flat.

As said it's a consumable item - it's not the major part of the phone to make it work and it's subject to wear unlike the phone itself.

    Care to elaborate?

I don't know if it was your intention to offend me (there are people on this forum that I'm sure do have such intentions when responding to people), but you have. You have no idea who I am, or how I have used the phone. So to say it's a fault probably caused by me is a gross assumption. I don't like people that make assumptions.

I think you get offended far too easily ....Olly's point was quite legitimate.

The overwhelming majority of people DO NOT read the instructions. These instructions always make comment on how the batteries should be charged initially - these are usually totally ignored.

Why should a manufacturer guarantee batteries if people "mistreat" them ?

Have you tried taking out the battery completely and refitting it to make sure there's a good contact. Maybe try swapping it for the battery of the other handset (if you have more than one) to see if it'll charge with that one.
