Skype and Video calls problems.

Hi all.

My wife had a webcam and headset as a xmas gift from one of the family who lives in Germany, it is so they can chat and see one another.
I set it all up on Xmas morning for her to use and it worked just fine, she was able to talk and see all the family there, now then, it also worked ok on Boxing day but since then there are problems, when she tries to call anyone, they can see and hear my wife but she cannot ese their video, the audio is either breaking up or is not there at all.

I have been on the Skype forum and see that others are having the same problem, but there is never any solution provided, been waiting for a respons from tech support but nothing yet.

On the forum there is a posting from a guy who has a test account setup, when I call that site everything works fine, this makes it more confusing though, beginning to wonder if that is sort of designed for it to work.

What I was wondering is if anyone on here has had the same problem and managed to sort it out, to be honest, it is beginning to start and make my hair turn grey.

Thank you in advance,

I have been experiencing this problem for over a year now when I skype call PC-PC my daughter in Australia, I came to the conclusion that the distance involved does not help but you are correct in saying nobody on the Skype forums offers a usable solution. The latest version of Skype Causes my PC to re-boot after about 15 mins use, I have contacted Skype,,,,no reply. May I suggest that if you have got a Logitech webcam they include their own VOIP system called Logitech Vid it's free but will only work if both parties are using their webcams and have it installed , It is an alternative to Skype not alway's better but still an alternative.
