Amex application times

Does anyone know how long it takes Amex to send you a card?
For instance, my current application timescale is:
14 December: Applied for card
30 December: Received PIN number (letter dated 23 December but lucky to receive it at all as Amex hadn't paid postage!)
and am still waiting for the card..!
Also, do you know if it comes via the Royal Mail or if they use one of those secure carriers to deliver it?
Thanks
Sunil

Hey Sunil
I also applied around the 14th and got my PIN around the 30th. I rang up AMEX and they said I should have the card before the 9th of Jan.
To be honest I have been pretty impressed by the customer services so far. Touch wood I havent tempted fate!0 -

I haven't tried the customer services to date but I'm not impressed that its taking so long to issue the card.
I think this is the longest it has taken me to get a card after applying.. and from what you are saying it could be another week before it arrives (:
Might not have been so disappointed if they had actually put a stamp on the letter with my PIN number

I still haven't received mine - did your card turn up?

I got mine in November and it turned up really quickly.
Why don't you phone them?
If it's very late it should be cancelled and they send you a new one.
Of course there could be issues with post in this weather, but you will know if you are getting other letters.0 -

I did call them earlier this week and like 'the first step' they told me I should expect it by the end of this week - hence me enquiring if its a general Amex issue (i.e. delays caused by Christmas etc) as I am getting other letters.
Sadly, Amex are only open 8am to 8 pm on weekdays.. though I could try calling tomorrow - though am keen to avoid them cancelling the card only for it to turn up as I have a couple of big purchases I would like to do ASAP.
