Hi All,
My parents are South African citizens and I would like to have them as PoA for my current account in UK.I have contacted Halifax and they have informed me that this is not possible for non British residents. The only other option I can think about is will, however I would rather check other ways to do it.
Can anyone suggest what are my other options here?
Thank you!

I would be inclined NOT to regard Halifax as being an authority on PoA!
There is nothing in the guidance to say that a non-British resident cannot be an Attorney. Ring the Office of the Public Guardian http://www.publicguardian.gov.uk/ if you wish to check for certain, not a bank.
If Halifax will not accept a valid, legal PoA on the rounds that they can't handle a foreign Attorney, find a bank that can and move your account.
But you should bear in mind the practical difficulties that would be involved in looking after your affairs from S Africa.0 -

Why are you looking for the to have POA, if they arent actually going to be opening and closing accounts on your behalf just having the ability to look after existing ones then think about having them added as third parties to your accounts. Being a POA has certain obligations about looking after the persons affairs, being a third party just means they can look after day to day transactions if you arent able to.0 -
Either way it is unlikely that Halifax or any bank would accept them unless they were to present themselves at a branch with you to carry out the ID checks.
I think it is that they are hinting at not that they will not have them as PoA - how could they confirm a UK address for instance?0
