Hi All, I have just discovered this fundraising site called easyfundraising.org.uk and if you purchase goods online from hundreds of different stores including Argos, eBay, Amazon, M&S, Tesco etc. etc. (they also have insurance companies and utilities companies listed!) then every time you make a purchase the charity of your choice will receive a donation without it costing you an extra penny!

All you need to do is register for free at easyfundraising.org.uk and then each time you want to make a purchace log into the fundraising site first and then select the shop you wish to purchase from and once the purchase is completed a donation will be made - you can even see how much you personally have raised for the charity with your own account statement - couldn't be easier.

There are hundreds of charities listed but if you do not have a preference please choose Burton Wildlife Rescue And Animal Centre  Thanks.

Im sure one of the rules on here is that if you are promoting a charity you need to include its charity registration number.
When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.

Infact here is the rule I was talking about:

To be on this board posts must obey the following rules:

    1. Any links must benefit a UK registered charity. The details of the charity number and link to the website must be given.

Your post where promote a rescue centre does not comply as you post neither the website address for the charity or its registration number.
When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.
  • Hi, Sorry if my post upset you - I wasn't exactly promoting the charity - just merely suggesting it if people hadn't got one in mind or couldn't pick one from the hundreds that I mentioned were available. ;)

I wasn't aware that post did not abide by the rules but to make everything "legal and above board" here is the information you require

  • With reference to my earlier post have also discovered another link where Charities receiv donations if you do searches on the internet

    www. easysearch.co.uk

Apparently this is one search engine that incorporates Ask, Yahoo and several others, all under the one search (sadly google not one of them).

It looks as though you have to do quite a few searches to generate any cash but every penny counts! It said on the site that if you do 10 searches a day then it would raise £20 a year for the charity, but if enough people do it then it would soon mount up.

I will be raising money for my local Wildlife Rescue Charity

Can you tell me why your charity is not on charity commission or with HMRC web site you imply its recognised charity with HMRC, but its not on there when I search for it

I have tried charity number and name both on charity commission web site and HM charity web site

    http://www.charity-commission.gov.uk/

"HMRC regognised charity. Ref number: XT15867 (misspelling of recognised) never heard of HMRC recognised charity either"

It is possible to be registered as a charity with HMRC (to enable the charity to use the Gift Aid scheme) without being registered (or required to register) with the Charities Commission, and I suspect that this charity is one of them.

The only search facility I can find on the HMRC website - and the one which savemoney linked to - allows you to find a charity which has registered to allow individuals to donate any tax refunds to charity rather than having it back themselves. The page does say

Not all charities choose to register for the 'SA Donate' scheme, so this is not a comprehensive list of all charities that are recognised by HMRC for tax purposes.

I will ask the abuse team to look at this, but if it's not possible for the general public to quickly and easily check that this is a valid charity I'm afraid that it is likely that links / mentions won't be allowed.

Thanks but why have a charity number if you cant check on them. I am sure its legit but there are people who arent who they say they are.

It's all about what the different sites have as their main aim.

The HMRC site isn't primarily set up to allow people to check whether charities are 'genuine' or not. However, they obviously need to keep a register of charities who are entitled to claim Gift Aid. It means that charities which are registered with both the Charity Commission AND HMRC will have two numbers, but only one will be useful for searching purposes in many cases.
