Pap, it's not just me having this problem, it seems to depend who your bank is. Paypal are saying it's the banks fault, banks are saying it's paypal's fault. Apparantly, it's because paypal process mastercard payments in Luxembourg, so some banks see it as a foreign transaction and charge for it. I think I'll end up just transferring lump sums to my paypal account every now and then, £1.50 each time when nearly all of my purchases are less than a fiver means it's just too expensive.

Although at least I found out about the charge now - I was going to pay for meals and things in Venice with my card, thinking it'd be cheaper than withdrawing cash from machines there, but now I know better.

Just realised Liverpool's a lot closer than I thought, it's only 74 miles, so the petrol wont be too bad. and I can set off a lot later than if I was going by bus.

Ames, be careful withdrawing from machines - you can be charged twice - once from the foreign bank and once from your bank.

An NE meet would be great, but maybe when the weather's a bit better. Although it seems a few DFW'ers are wanting to do the GNR, so it might be worth going then to cheer them on.

I had a ready meal for tea, but it wasn't very filling. For some reason when I've gone back to them after eating properly and healthily they're just not enough any more. I might have a sausage sarnie in a bit, I need to eat them before tomorrow.

Scaredy, thanks for that, although I usually use British banks - in Paris I used a barclays machine all the time and didn't get extra charges. I'll have to see if there's any in Venice, then do my sums! I've got enough Euro's for my accommodation and the entry fees for everything I want to see, and £50 left over so I should be ok. I just don't like taking loads of money with me in case I get mugged day one.

    I need lessons I think.

Well this is generally because there is still a fair bit in the freezer, I didn't need cereal or washing powder. Can't see me being able to keep it to that low every week (although I don't have anymore to spend :( so I'll have to really)

No meat, loads of veg, pasta, rice. Mr T had a 5kg bag of potatoes for 49p or something stupid! :)

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
