Plumbing/Corrosion? - help,advice needed

Please forgive me if i seem a tad uneducated but this is my first boiler i've had (had warm air heating past 20 years)

anyhow on a few of my pipes there is this green sludge and it is very noticeable on the pipes in the boiler cupboard.

thus i have uploaded some jpegs of the problem , perhaps someone could tell me what's causing this and what needs to happen?

The second and fourth image seem to show a compression joint which is leaking, or has been at some point.

It may just need tightening. Compression joints need to be tightened down quite hard, because the seal is made by deforming a brass or copper ring (known as an olive). However, leaks can also occur if the olive has been damaged before fitting.

If there is any sign of water still leaking, it should be drained down and investigated and, if damaged, replaced. I know from personal experience that a slow leak can cause quite a lot of harm if not detected and fixed (for example chipboard flooring swells up and then disintegrates).

    Has it just been installed?

    A few things strike me...

The quality of pipefitting is as rough as a Bears bottom
There could be water leaks around some fittings
There may be acid flux soup in your system ,a remnant of poor installation practice, which needs flushing out.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • Yep, as has been suggested, you have a leak. The joint where the corrosion is taking place is leaking, either quite badly, or has been over a long period of time. You probably need a plumber to sort it out, as tightening the joint could make it worse and you could end up with a flood!

    Change the fitting & olives.

It has probably been contaminated with flux.

This may be external to the pipework & the system may be sound & not need flushing. You will see when removing the fitting if the internal pipework is corroding & needs flushing or not.

Looks like a rough-ars-ed job to me, the pipe left of the leaking one in the 2nd Jpeg must have been bent using someones knee, if that the standard of workmanship I'm not surprised you've got leaks/ weeps at the joints.
