hope this is helpful.
I make all my own curtains and I have awkward Edwardian bays, absolutley huge expanses of windows with 10ft drops and radiators just to put the boot in...
I have designed my own ideas as no book or website could help they just put the basic windows or bay....
A good fabric shop should help you with quantities of fabric depending on choice of headings...Try and get a good home furnishing book from library as a base and then design your own. I have got roman blinds and curtains ...blinds disappear in the summer.

Unless you are already a very competent needlewoman, you might be wise to practice making a curtain - perhaps using a sheet or old curtain fabric from a charity shop - before running the risk of making a basic construction error that costs you the value of ££££'s worth of expensive fabric.
It isn't rocket science but I'm a firm believer in doing my learning on something that will make cheap and cheerful dusters if I make a booboo! Good luck.0
