Pork roast temp and timings please

Options
I know I sound really thick, but I bought a pork joint for sunday roast today and where it is from the butchers it has no cooking instructions and I have no idea what temp and for how long to cook it. I use gas and will weigh the joint and add the details in a bit, but any ideas of timing per lb or kg would be fab.

Thanks.

    Hi batgirl,

This is the way I roast pork:

If it has skin and you want to make crackling, make sure that the skin is dry. To do this it's best to leave it uncovered overnight in the fridge, but if it's too late for that pat it dry with kitchen roll and score it well with a sharp knife to make your crackling more crispy.

Make small slits all over the pork and insert small slivers of garlic. (optional)

Put it into a preheated oven at 250 degrees (gas mark 9) for 20 minutes.

Lower the heat to 190 degrees (gas mark 5) and roast for 35 minutes per pound.

The most important thing is to allow the meat to rest in a warm kitchen for at least 20 minutes before carving it.

Thanks so much, I was starting to worry noone was going to tell me and we would be eating cornflakes for dinner. Your idea sounds delicious, I have juist got to convine my OH on the garlic, as I love it and he's never as keen,
