Statutory manufactures warrenty do not cover accidental damage and therefore you would not be covered for the damage. If you did try to claim by fraud then they would request the laptop to be returned and they would inspect it prior to repairing it.
If you have an extended warrenty or home contents insurance then both of these will probably cover accidental damage to your laptop.
Remember that opening up the laptop itself (rather than the access port for ram/ hd replacement) may invalidate your warrenty. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Remove the keys, clean all the gunk out, of course make sure you take a picture of where the keys will need to be located once returned.
Put the laptop onto a shelf in your airing cupboard.
Leave for a couple of days and try it again.
You could also consider removing all the hardware and cleaning out the dust and gunk, also to make sure there are no water molecules festering on the components.
It might be a case that one component is affected, such as HD, Mobo, ram sticks or even the graphics card.
As for insurance, I am not a broker so would not know.
Check you policy.0 -

Just be careful removing keys as they are a sod to get back in if they are the U clip type.0 -
